Our food philosophy
The food philosophy of Merilä Manor comprises top-quality raw ingredients that turn into delicious food. Great ingredients are the result of freshness, locality, and a clean growth environment.
The raw ingredients and processed products, such as mushrooms, meat, yoghurts, and our own local specialty, Midsummer cheese – eaten all year round despite the name – are all acquired close by. Natural fish comes from the waters of Rokua and Oulujärvi, only the salmon is either Finnish rainbow trout or salmon from the Bothnian Bay. The delicious berries for our desserts and jams we pick ourselves whenever possible.
One important factor in our philosophy is our location between the Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu regions. For the most part, our menus are based on the traditions of Northern Ostrobothnia, but we’re also using recipes from Kainuu. We make almost all our dishes and baked goods, such as the delicious Manor malt bread, ourselves in the Manor kitchen.

Merilä Manor offers an atmospheric and rustic environment for your festive occasions in all seasons of the year. The main building, built in 1811, and its extensions provide seats for 260 diners and conference facilities for about 285 persons.
